WELCOME

The Augusta Youth Center, Inc. is one of the most caring youth programs in  this community.

We love our children and as administrator it is my goal to help them become good strong

leaders, to be well-educated, good citizens, good parents, doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
The Programs

After-School:
 The center is open from
10:00 pm – 6:30 pm, Monday through
Friday during the school year.  The staff
works with the students to complete home
work as well as supervise physical and
recreational activities.  The staff also
conduct activities that increase self -
esteem, teamwork and problem solving
capabilities.  In addition, the students are
taken on educational field trips that
challenge their comfort zones.

Computer Classes:  The Center
provides computer training to the children,
their parents and grandparents, and others
in the local neighborhood who need to
become computer literate.

Clothes Closet: Once a month the
Center holds a clothing giveaway to the
community. Through the closet we also
provide uniforms for some of the students
that attend the center who need some
assistance .

Prepared to Work Program:
Provide Internships and Apprenticeships
for local High School and College students
to provide them with entry level
experience in various career fields.

It’s Cultural:
The Augusta Youth Center will
expose the
children to art, creative writing, singing,
drama, etc,.
The Augusta Mini Theater and
Studio ARTGRO
will hold Workshops for
the children and the children will
also
attend  Theater  and local cultural events.

Summer Camp: Beyond the Bell is a
nine week summer camp where the
children participate in math, language arts
and computer programs to target
individual strengths and weaknesses.  It is
equally important for the AYC kids to
have fun during the summer, so the
“Beyond the Bell” camp takes them on
field trips to such places such as the
National Science Center Fort Discovery,
the Augusta Museum, Pendleton King
Park, and the River Walk.
The Future

The Augusta Youth Center Operates with a small
paid staff of administrators and counselors supp -
lemented by dozens of volunteers who carry out this
vital work in our community. The center is funded by
donations from philanthropic organizations, govern
-ment grants, religious groups and individuals from
the community.

The AYC has served over 2,000 children
since 1984.

65% of our kids are on the honor roll.
